Fall Invitations
Daylight is diminishing, trees are letting go of their leaves, online spaces can feel chaotic and crowded, and the world seems a bit mad (in all the meanings of the word). I’m noticing the changes around me and how they’re shaping what I need.
Maybe you’re noticing, too: the old stories that still haunt you, the creative longings you’ve ghosted, or the words that keep calling out to be written.
In this season, as the light fades, perhaps you’re, like me, craving a slower rhythm, a quiet space to lay things down, or a way to stay connected to what feels sacred and life-giving.
If any of this resonates, I’ve created a few virtual spaces for you to write your way this fall.
(All events are held in private Zoom rooms; please remember to double-check your time zone.)
Word by Word: Creative Writing Workshop
THIS WEEK: Thursday, October 30th
noon PT /3 pm ET (1 hour)
Free for paid Substack subscribers
$5 drop-in for guests
Word by Word invites you to explore the art of language and creative expression beyond your journal. With a writing prompt and a time for freewriting, you’ll get to play with words that might surprise, delight, or reveal. You’ll also have a chance to share and receive encouraging feedback, if that's something you’re interested in. This session is for anyone wanting to (re)connect with their creative writing voice or simply enjoy a time of artful writing.
Write Your Grief
Wednesday, November 12th
9 am PT/noon ET (40-60 minutes)
$20 registration fee
Write Your Grief is a guided journaling experience for those walking through loss, heartbreak, or any season of deep disappointment or hurt. You’ll be able to find written expression from the quiet aches to the silent screams within the wound(s) your heart carries, and be guided to a place of release, rest, and gentle mending through words. You will not be asked to share what you’ve written or carry anyone else’s grief. Your privacy is respected, and your heart is held in this space.
Pen & Mend Writing Room & AfterWords
Friday, November 21st
9 am PT/noon ET (2 hours)
Free for paid Substack subscribers
In the Writing Room, we come together once a month for an hour of dedicated writing time and quiet companionship—each person working on their own project or journaling practice. We stay AfterWords, a time of writerly conversation, reflection, and encouragement. It’s here to be an anchor point for your month and help you stay connected to your practice in a life-giving way.
Stay tuned for the upcoming Substack invite and Zoom link by making sure you’re subscribed as a paying member.
Make note of any events that interest you, register for the open ones, add them to your calendar, and leave a comment with any questions.
I hope you’ll find a space that speaks to you this season—whether it’s a playful return to creative writing, a sacred hour to write your way through grief, or a time of quiet writing with communal support. These virtual gatherings are small but sacred invitations to show up as you are and let the words meet you there.
Warmly—
Kristin
P.S. A Note From My Shop
Remind Yourself of the Light as You Write Through Winter’s Darkness
I created an adorable writing candle in a tiny amber jar to keep you company and help you hold yourself in the light while you journal or write. I know many writers, like myself, love to include lighting a candle as part of their writing ritual, and this little one would be the perfect addition to your ritual and writing space. Featuring a soothing, warm, cinnamon chai latte scent (perfect cozy vibes going into the fall and winter), this little writing candle has a burn time of up to 20 hours — use it to inspire and visually “log” your writing time.
