I just joined Pen and Mend and I am eager to start, but also confused! I wonder if anyone could answer my questions!
1. It seems like Pen and Mend is hard to get to on the app. I can find it when on the website on my phone though. Is it best to do this on a computer?
2. Where do I start? I was able to find the first journal prompts in order, but I want to make sure I'm doing it "right!" Do I go back to prompt 1 and start there?
1. Unfortunately, you’re right, the app hides our private Pen & Mend tab with the posts for prompts and events. The best way to use Substack for Pen & Mend will be through the Safari (or other browser) app on your phone or on your computer.
2. There’s no right way to start. But if I had to pick one it would be to start with this month’s journal prompt and then stay tuned for our next writing room or gathering post to go out! If you want to explore the archive of prompts, feel free to start at 1 and work your way through or pick and choose what feels good for you. The 52 prompt library was originally meant to offer one weekly prompt for a year but it can be used however you’d like!
Thank you! That does help. Are the writing rooms always at the same times on Fridays? And I noticed you said this month’s journal prompt. Do you do them monthly now, instead of weekly?
Prompts are at least once a month (no longer weekly). And writing rooms will *likely* be Fridays at 9 am PT / noon ET but there’s some room for flexibility.
It's on my calendar. Look forward to continuing to grow my practice of writing regularly. It's so good to know that others are writing through the healing process.

so glad to have you as part of this community, Tammy!
I took a writers class from Kristen and found her to be a kind guide and companion as I worked through the material. 💙
If you are considering this, take the leap! She will walk you through a season of personal growth with compassion and gentleness!
