This was a beautiful encouraging piece to read. Thank you for sharing your journey. I’m new to writing publicly. In my mid 60s, I jumped into this to express my own creative process. I’ve journaled most of my life to process my feelings. Writing is so helpful for that. I’m so glad I came across your Substack. I so want to improve this craft/gift and these words were just what I needed
Thanks for giving us such a detailed look into this experience and your takeaways! When I saw your invitation in Exhale, I sorely wished I didn’t live on the opposite side of the country, but through this beautiful essay you gave me takeaways of my own. I loved this one in particular:
“[The water is] cold. It’s scary. But you have to step off the ladder, let go of the edge, and trust that the water—the process—will hold you.”
Let the process hold you. That’s what’s going on the sticky note by my laptop :)
Thanks for reading, Paige and taking the time to share what resonated with you back in May. It's a joy to read about what's making it on a sticky note by your laptop -- so meaningful!

I'm so glad you're here, Janet! So sorry it's taken me over a month to be with you in the comments. It sounds like we're kindred spirits!
Loved reading this! Thanks for sharing :)
Thanks for reading this back in May, Tanner! ;) I hope your book launch is going well!
